The Social Anxiety Institute

Helps People Overcome Social Anxiety

We've run continuous social anxiety groups for 26 years. This site contains over 100 articles on social anxiety.

We've recently finished two successful CBT groups via Zoom using the series "Overcoming Social Anxiety: Step by Step".  New Zoom therapy groups to help overcome social anxiety will be announced soon.

In-person cognitive-behavioral therapy groups will also resume, although a precise timetable has not been set.

The therapy series "Overcoming Social Anxiety: Step by Step" by psychologist Thomas A. Richards, Ph.D., has helped thousands of people overcome their social anxiety.
Dr. Richards lived with social anxiety himself for forty years.

The Social Anxiety Institute is the only treatment center in the world that specializes solely in helping people overcome social anxiety disorder.  We are starting our 26th year of service to the social anxiety community.  Therapy programs operate continuously throughout the year and people from over thirty-five countries have come to the Social Anxiety Institute for targeted therapy.  Dr. Thomas A. Richards lived with this disorder himself until, using cognitive-behavioral therapy, he overcame it and went on to become a psychologist.  He also heads the non-profit Social Anxiety Association.

Do you react to social situations by becoming anxious?  Are you highly self-conscious?  Do you shrink away from being the center of attention?  Do you feel other people view you negatively and are somehow judging you?  Does the thought of making a public presentation cause high amounts of anxiety?  Do you get anxious anticipating what you might have to do in the future?  Do you feel you don't know how to mingle or have the right things to say?  After you've done something, do you worry excessively about your performance and re-play it over and over again in your head?   Do you beat yourself up by comparing yourself to other people?  Does this happen to you every day?  To get a good idea of what it's like to have social anxiety, see What is it Like Living with Social Anxiety?
